Strong start for the UK CML AE 1/8th Gas team

Round 1 of the BRCA 1/8th Nitro nationals took place this past weekend at Deerdale’s astro track as the season opened on the 2016 championship.

The UK CML AE team has grown over the tail of last year with some new additions, so it was great to see the presence of the team now filling out 4 Gazebos for the 2016 season.

Qualifying was, in the main, a dry weather affair which would see Neil Cragg as team leader via for the overall TQ. Neil TQed round 1 but could not repeat this feat and had to settle for 4th, the rest of the A team would also make very solid places with Jamie Clancy coming in 9th, Simon Reeves 10th and David Bailey 14th.

After the dust had settled, all 4 drivers with the help and support of the team, secured positions in the main Final. Neil started 6th, David 7th, Simon 9th and Jamie 12th A great way to start the season with the most cars of any brand in the main final and 3 Rex Engines, showing how competitive our package is.

The final would not go according to plan for Neil. Unfortunately he suffered a self-inflicted break whilst in the lead and with a good gap on second place. David showed some really strong consistency to come home 7th, with Simon 8th and Jamie 10th. So, we ended with 3 cars in the top 10. Looking forward, it is Kent next and after Neil's win at last year's event, with his proto RC8B3, it is fair to say the team will be looking forward to the next chapter.

Coolio and his gang.
