RcMotorsport drivers report back from rounds 11 and 12 of the NitroXcross series

Typical Bank holiday weather would put a stop to the racing on Sunday but the East Shrewsbury team put in lots of hard work to make sure the track was ready for racing on the Monday.

The RCMotorsport Team were out at East Shrewsbury over the bank holiday weekend for rounds 11 & 12 of the NitroXcross series.  East Shrewsbury’s track is a dirt track with several features, table tops, sweeping banked corners, textured surfaces and a double.

The Weather wasn’t kind to East Shrewsbury, Sunday morning would see a grey sky with dark clouds and it wasn’t long before the rain came in and the day was cancelled after only 4 out of 6 heats completed their first qualifying session.  The rain was relentless until mid-afternoon and once it stopped the East Shrewsbury crew got on the track and drained the deep puddles and swept away as much surface water as possible, the track was then left to dry and was perfect for Monday’s racing.

Qualifying went really well and after round 2 I was 12th overall. The car was feeling good and for me it was down to tyre choice.

I made the wrong tyre choice in round 3 which pushed me down the field, I managed to get a good last round in which would see me ended up 14th overall which would see me line up in 4th on the grid in the B final.

I didn’t have the best start and go caught up in a collision on the first corner which put me right to the back of the field. I did manage to pull my way through the pack after only a few laps getting back up to 4th position but after a couple of mistakes of my own I dropped back down a couple of places, an unfortunate engine cut on the last lap meant I didn't finish the race I ended up in 9th position.

I was really happy with my Team Associated RC8B3.1, it felt awesome from the off even after an unlucky final!

At the end of the 4 qualifying sessions I would be starting in 4th place for the E Final. I lined up in 4th place for the E and went on to take the win which would see me bump up to the D Final. I started in 11th place for the D final and with some good steady driving I got through the pack to finish 4th just missing out on the last bump up spot to the C Final.

My Team Associated RC8B3.1 car was great all weekend and handled well on the dirt track at East Shrewsbury.

The Bank holiday weekend saw the RC Motorsport Team competing at East Shrewsbury’s track for the NitroXcross series.

Sunday started off with the weather not looking good at all, I managed to get one run in before the rain came and the meeting got called off. The rest of Sunday was all about the prep for Monday which was going to be a much better day.

Monday and the track was looking great, I got off to a good start got quicker and quicker during the day. After qualifying finished I would be gridding up in 9th place in the C final. I didn’t have the best of starts and fell to the back of the group and even though I pushed hard I was unable to fight my way back up to the front, unfortunately I had to retire due to a breakage on the rear.

This weekend I was at East Shrewsbury for their rounds of the NitroXcross. Due to the weather Sunday was a wash out, but Monday stayed dry and after some hard work from the guys and gals at the Shrewsbury Club the track stayed awesome and stayed together all-day Monday even after the heavy rain. The track was a little bumpy in places with no offline grip, so consistency was key

During qualifying I was trying some different arm positions and trying different tyres. I found the Proline Blockades X3 to be best on and offline and held together best. By the end of the 4 rounds of qualifying I was sat 7th in the D.

The final started off a little shaky with some first lap carnage and mistakes but once I found my groove and with some lighting quick pitting from Matt and Tim Slaney I went on to finish  in 2nd place , giving me bump up to the C Final.

Dan’s Setup
Diffs – AE 5K, 5K, 5K
Shocks - AE Front 35w Rear 32w
Shocks - Front Spring Extra soft Rear Spring +5mm rear standoff

All in all a good weekend for the RcMotorsport team, it was just a shame that the weather put a stop to the racing on the Sunday, we move on to Brookthorpe for the next rounds.
