Frankley Autism Awareness Charity Race - June 27th & 28th 2015

Jon Howells reports from the FMCC Autism awareness charity race weekend.

Saturday was an open practice day and four rounds of qualifying but due to family commitments I was unable to attend.

In the open buggy practice Jon Griffiths, Rich Price and David Brown we topping the timesheet and looking good for TQ. In the truggy open practice it was David Brown and Carl O’Connor looking good to take TQ.

On Sunday Pete and I rocked up to the track with our trusty AE RC8T Truggys, mine was fitted with a new Top Elite 8-port engine giving me lots of power and ready for the last two heats of qualifying. I managed to TQ the last two rounds with Pete Hedley taking two fourth places.

Truggy Final Line Up

  3. Carl O'Connor
  4. Pete Hedley
  5. Paul Markham
  6. Dave Parker

Buggy Final Line Up

  1. Rich Price
  2. Jon Griffiths
  3. Mark Westwood
  4. David Brown
  5. Stavros Costas
  6. Carl O'Connor
  7. Ian Boushear
  8. Colin Brennan

The 30 minute Buggy Final was won by Jon Griffiths, with Colin Brennan taking second and David Brown taking third, a special mention to Gaow Hedley and his RC8 who managed to bump all the way from the C to the A final!

We then went on to run the thirty minute truggy final! The flag went up and we set off at a blistering pace. My Fastrax Twister-T tyres gave me the traction I needed to get into the lead and with my trusty Top powered AE truggy I managed to pull away and build up a good lead and take a convincing win with David Brown taking second and Carl O’Connor taking third after a great battle with Pete Hedley and just pipping him to the last podium place!

All in all a great charity meeting for Autism awareness.

Thanks to CML for the continued support
