Associated and Olly Jefferies win again

Marston Model Car was the latest venue to witness a win for the TC5 as the Associated team scored a 1-2 at the LRP/SMD Cup.

With no modified class the Associated team were running in the Pro Stock 10.5 brushless class and scored an impressive dominant victory. Olly Jefferies took FTD in front of Stafford driver David Ward. Fourth on the grid was fast improving Tom Jefferies who is really getting to grips with the TC5 since switching to the Associated car over the winter. The LRP Cup is a four round series based at the Haden Hill leisure Centre in Cradley Heath in the West Midlands. It was Olly's first visit to this venue and he was due to line up with he CML Associated team mate Andy Robson. Family commitments meant Andy could not attend so it was left to Olly, brother Tom and David Ward to fly the AE flag. Olly fine tuning his TC5. Following a dominating qualifying performance in which Olly set fastest time in every round it was on to the first of the A finals. A clean get away saw Olly lead from pole position and he did not look troubled as he eased away from the pack. David Ward was solid in second with Tom moving up a place during the race to take third. The second leg of the A final saw Olly make a mistake and run wide on a corner on lap one, this allowed David Ward to lead into lap two, but his lead was short lived when, under pressure from Olly, David made a mistake and hit the wall. Behind these two Tom was making ground and after David's mistake was up to second, a place he held to the end. The final results saw a 1-2 for Associated and for the Jefferies family with Olly taking both legs and the overall win with Tom a creditable second. David Ward was disappointed not make it an Associated 1-2-3 but he felt he got a lot out of the day, working with Olly and improving his TC5, in readiness for the next round of Carpet Masters in a few weeks. Olly will now be looking forward to getting back to five cell modified racing after Christmas and the DHI Cup in Denmark in January, Tom joins Olly for the trip but he will be sticking with Pro Stock for the annual Danish classic. Olly, Tom & David form a formidable racing team for Associated.
