Grainger the Invincible!

Chris Grainger retained his national touring car title in fine style with yet another win at the fast flowing Halifax securing his fourth domestic title on the bounce for Yokomo.

Coming into round four at Halifax Chris was lying second in the BRCA national touring series, but despite this was still favourite to take the title as a top three finish would be enough for the Yokomo driver. Chris started his campaign in fine style taking FTD in round one; round by round qualifying saw Chris win three rounds to take FTD ahead of Olly Jefferies and Ben Cosgrove, two of his main championship rivals. Joining Chris in the A final was his Yokomo team mate Lee Woodhams in sixth place. The first final saw Chris ease away from Olly in the early stages, Olly stayed consistent but just lacked that little extra pace to challenge Chris, Chris went on to take leg from Olly and Ben. Leg two and real hard fought race, Ben came through from second as Chris half spun early in the race unfortunately collecting Olly and allowing the chasing pack through, Chris got back up too second but Ben took the leg two win. A win for Chris in leg three was enough to take the overall win and in doing so secure another national title for CML / Yokomo, Lee finished eighth overall. In the B final Andy Robson was seventh for Associated finishing just ahead of John Pape eighth for Yokomo. So another championship title for Chris and the Yokomo BD, Lee Woodhams also made the top ten in the series with his Yokomo finishing an excellent eighth. This year the Associated TC5 has been campaigned by Andy Robson and Alan Bickerstaff, the pair have secured some excellent results with the car as it continues to develop into a front running package; Andy finished 22nd and Alan 23rd in what was a very competitive national series. The Associated due finished just one place ahead of the third Yokomo team driver John Pape who netted 24th overall and third in the F2 class.
