Howells Takes All At 8-Ten Finals

CML driver John Howells finishes a fantastic season in style with a double win with his HoBao Hyper 8.5 and Hyper ST.

After a gruelling season, it was all to play for, at the 8-ten finals hosted by Fast Tracks at their new home track Sutton Coldfield. A large grass/dirt track with natural undulations and three strategically placed jumps was the track layout 2 classes were up for grabs, the prestigious 1/8th rally cross and the ever increasing Truggy class, it all added up to a busy weekend for drivers and "pit crew," qualifying positions already decided from past meetings with countback having to be used to decide pole position! it was all so close at the top! with Howells taking pole in 1/8th rallycross from Willetts and Nicholas, and Taylor pole in the Truggy class from Howells and Lissiter Sunday kicked off with 2 rounds of timed practice in qualifying format, ready for 20 minute across the board finals with 4 bump up positions for grabs. Up first was the Truggy A final with Howells using his new ST pro for the first time in battle with Lee Taylor, after what can only be called a super close race from start to finish with Howells crossing the line 4 seconds in front of Taylor after 20 minutes to take the truggy title One down one to go, with the final race of the year, with fading light the A final got underway with Howells and Willetts quickly into rhythm lapping the rest of the pack within the first 5 minutes, Willetts getting the better of Howells in the traffic and pulling a 8 second gap, and this carried on until the 15 minute mark when Howells started to close the gap forcing Willetts into an error, Howells took the lead with 3 minutes to go crossing the line to take the championship A big congratulations to John from all at CML.
