Grainger makes it two in a row

Yokomo/CML driver Chris Grainger made it two in a row when he won this weekends, second round of the BRCA modified championship at Aldershot with his Grainger Edition BD.

Racing on familiar ground Chris was always going to the favourite going into the Aldershot round of the BRCA series. Chris set the pace early on and it was Andy Moore and Olly Jefferies that gave chase during qualifying. A fast time in round one set the stage for the A final, Chris set FTD with Andy and Olly second and third, they held station throughout qualifying while everyone tried to get on their very fast pace. Craig Drescher was going well with his new production Novak Brushless powered Team Associated TC5 qualifying an excellent fifth. Such was the pace of the five cell brushless cars that nine of the A final drivers were inside the old six cell track record! Shod with the RP30 BRCA control tyre, the modified cars set an awesome pace on the Hampshire track with Chris nearly a lap up on Kevin Brunsden?s old record. To protect his FTD Chris put new tyres on for the final run of qualifying while others kept theirs for the final. This set up an exciting first leg which did not disappoint, the top three battled for the lead with Chris, Andy and Olly all taking turns to lead the frantic first leg. A mistake by Olly dropped him of the front three and left Chris to chase Andy. Despite his best efforts Chris had to give best to Andy and his new tyres in leg one. Leg two resulted in a win for Chris and with his FTD gave him the overall victory, with Andy was second and Olly third. Chris now leads the series as it moves on to Halifax in a months time. Craig was an excellent fourth for Associated / Novak, and John Pape took the flag for Yokomo with an excellent B Final win.
