As an affordable, entry level scale crawler the FTX Outback has been hugely popular, introducing lots of new enthusiasts into the world of scale r/c. Moving forward we have updated the chassis with some subtle design changes and updates to further enhance the performance: Outback 2.
New updated front and rear axle housings have been widened increasing the track width by 15mm for an improved handling and reduced wheel scrub. A higher torque and larger390 size brushed motor now handles the power, while new 4-point nickel-plated suspension and steering links provide more precise articulation and steering. The oil filled shock absorbers have now been moved outboard for more scale realism and handling improvements. A new servo mount from aluminium provides scope for different servo options.
The Treka edition has been updated with chrome dish scale wheels, while the Ranger edition enjoys a new updated body design featuring matt finished wheel arches and front bonnet detail.
All models are Ready-to-Run with 1500mAH NiMh battery and just require AA’s for the transmitter to be ready to crawl. If you missed out on the original Outback, then don’t pass up this opportunity, your outdoor off road experience is waiting.

I remember when the outback version 1 came out and immediately bought one and used it well for around 20 hrs must say that the rig performed exceptionally well for the price bracket that it came in went places my axials and gmades went no problem BUT after the 20hrs use I had several problems with the electronics motors wouldn’t last a battery pack and the 2in1 esc was on and off constantly I think I spent as much in new motors and speed controllers as I did in buying the truck I was going to purchase one of these as was told that there was going to be a version 2 released in the future I’ve uploaded numerous photos and videos over the internet and even done some modifications to mine to make it even better than it was and spent hundreds in the process I’m going to hold off for the moment on buying this rig until I’ve seen some actual reviews on how much of an improvement this version 2 is on the original I will then see about purchasing one and doing a review of it on my channel and community group but all in all well done ftx on trying to improve a great fun rig (shame about the electronics) hope to see some reviews shortly cheers Jason
