Herts Nitro Model Club Summer Series Round 5

Herts Nitro Model Club Summer Series Round 5

Garry Clancy reports back from 1/8 Nitro and 1/10 Electric Club in Ware, Hertfordshire.

Just over 80 drivers attended Sunday's meet at Herts including Team CML/AE, which was bigger than ever with the likes of Dave Bailey, John Howells and their crews of merry men joining with the 'down-south' team of Jamie Clancy and Darren Hayden-Ball and the rest of the team. It looked like it was going to be a CML/AE invasion in the pits and on the track! That's exactly what happened in Truggy, with Jon and Lloyd who took to the track like ducks to water and by the time the finals came around, were totally up to speed running the TC8T3's. In the main final John had great race with Jon Hazelwood and took the win with Lloyd having a awesome result on the Herts track bringing it home in 3rd.

In Nitro Buggy and it was Jamie Clancy that once again was on pole, TQing all three rounds and producing the only 8 lapper in qualifying, proving the new Associated B3.1 is allready on point before it's even hit the shelves! Joining Jamie in the A was Dave Bailey, Darren Hayden-Ball, Tom Saggers, Robson White, Jason Patey and Jamie Cutter, making it 7 AE cars in the main! The AE domination continued with Jamie winning comfortably by nearly 30 seconds from Kevin Brunsdon in second and Mitch Booth in 3rd. Dave just missing podium with a great drive in 4th place and solid job by the rest of the crew making it a fantastic A final result!

Onto eBuggy and the domination would continue with Darren Hayden-Ball on flying form with his Associated B3e, taking the win with another local racer, Richard Cousins, claiming third with his B3e. So, all in all, a fantastic weekend for the Associated team.

Next week is SRS at Kent where the 'down-south' team will be in force once again!
