Reedy make it four out of four at BRCA 12th Nationals

Reedy power took the win in all four classes of the final BRCA 12th Circuit meeting of the year.

Chesterfield Auto Racing Society are one of the longest standing 12th clubs around, and once again they were the hosts for the final round of the BRCA season.  A tight track greeted the drivers on arrival that was certainly going to be a test for the 110 racers in attendance.

On Saturday in the 13.5t class it was Keith Robertson with his Reedy powered Team Associated RC12R5.2 that took pole position ahead of Leigh Dibble and Aidan Ripley.  In the final, a tangle at the first corner allowed Keith to break clear and never look back to take the win.  Leigh took second place after a fine battle, just pipping Andy Sawyer into third.  This confirmed Keith’s title win in the inaugural year of the 13.5t class.

In the 10.5t class it was David Spashett on pole ahead of Chris Kerswell and Olly Jefferies.  The final would be a race for the championship between David and Olly, both of whom were using the Reedy Sonic Mach 2 motor.  It was a tense race that saw big changes right at the end as David took the win on the last lap from Chris with Olly just dropping off the podium into fourth behind Mick Farrell.  This was enough to give another national title to David, with Olly in a close second.

Sunday saw more close racing in the Sportsman class.  Following on from their epic final at the previous round it was the Reedy powered trio of Mark Jewitt (driving the Associated RC12R5.2), Keith Robertson and Jim Spencer at the front of the grid.  The final was another title decider, and the start saw a Keith drop near the rear of the field but he managed to make it back to the front to take the win ahead of Peter Craig and Jim Spencer.  In the championship this mean that Keith took a narrow victory over Jim, with Mark in third.

The Open class was dominated by the Reedy powered car of Olly Jefferies as he took a comfortable pole position ahead of Adam Walker-Catchpole and Chris Kerwell.  The final was another easy win for Olly as he managed the amazing feat of leading every single lap of all the A finals in the open class this year!  Second place went to Adam with the Yokomo R12C3 of Mark Stiles in third.  All the guys on the podium were using Reedy Sonic Mach 2 motors with Olly and Mark also using the Reedy 1S cell.  Olly finished the season with a maximum score in the championship with Mark in second and David Spashett in third.

So Reedy took all four wins in the LMP12 classes over the weekend, and once the scores were totalled up they also racked up all four BRCA championship titles!
