Reedy 8:11 Series -Rnd 2

Reedy 8:11 Series -Rnd 2

Last weekend was the 2nd round of the increasingly popular 8:11 series at the NDOR Track in Nottingham. Max?d out at 127 entries it's fast becoming a must on the Midland's racing calendar.

Team Associated took a dominant stance in qualifying with Dave Bailey taking all 3 rounds. Unfortunately Dave wasn?t able to race the finals because of family duties and a poorly daughter (get well soon Emma). Giving the rest of the field a chance to win. Boot Camper and leader of the younger recruits Matthew Lawrence had a disaster in qualifying but showed his pace by winning the C final, and the B final to make another 8:11 series A final. Well done Matthew who is fast becoming one of the 'quick young lads' on the racing circuit. The finals became more of a challenge when the weather turned dark and rainy. Rain had threatened all day and did drizzle from time-to-time. When the rain came down it was a lottery to know which tires and set-ups would work in the wet conditions. With a quick drying track it was a gamble to know if it would dry half way through or stay wet so it became a battle of two halves. Some drivers opted to risk it and go for the trusted yellow mini spikes/pins (hoping that it would dry by the end of the final) whilst others decided to opt for safety and run the trusted HoBao Angles (having to hang onto a twitchy car if the track did dry out). In the end it was a fantastic battle between Drescher, Howler and Hill. Hill putting in a good fight up front until a few small errors put pay to him challenging again for the rest of the race. Up front it was a tight two horse race between Drescher and Howler. These two had a monumental race to the end with nothing between driver, engine or car. They passed and double passed one another for the whole 22 minute final and it was fantastic to watch. A great testament to the products and drivers. Eventually the Reedy Powered RC8B (running the conversion kit) took the checkered flag a few seconds clear of a hard chasing Jon Howells. Awesome race guys. Another young flyer who deserves a mention is Aslee Owen running the Hobao who had a great final to finish 6th overall. Well done Ashlee. Drescher ran the new RC8B upgrade kit. Available soon. Accompanied by his faithful Reedy 121 VR and his Reedy Lipo receiver pack.
