TC6 Just Can?t Stop Winning

Zak Smith and Olly Jefferies continue to show off the pace of the TC6, this time at the Moto Arena GP.

The Winter Grand Prix meeting at Moto Arena was the first time the entire Associated on-road team had a chance to try the new TC6, and if the results were anything to go by the team must pretty pleased with the performance of the new Associated touring car. In 10.5 Pro Stock Chris Slater was the class of the field taking TQ and setting a new Moto Arena track record for the class. Zak Smith qualified in sixth place and going very well was Tom Jefferies who lined up fourth for the A final. In the Super Touring modified class it was Olly Jefferies once again setting the pace and Olly like Chris set a new track record, going nearly a lap quicker in qualifying than he did at the recent BTCC round held at Moto Arena. Steve Lander was trying modified for the first time in a few years and getting a feel for the TC6 and extra performance, Steve would line up sixth for the A final. On to the finals and a disaster for Chris Slater who was nearly a lap up on the field going into the last minute of the pro Stock A final leg one. In sight of the finish Chris got collected by a driver who was recovering from an accident and his race was finished. From a team perspective it was still looking good as the first leg was won by Zak Smith with Tom Jefferies in third. Leg 2 and no bad luck for Chris this time as he led from start to finish but was still left cursing his first leg misfortune. A fourth place for Zak gave him the overall win with Tom third, great result for the team with four TC6?s in the top six. New academy recruit Kyle Gardner continued his good run of form winning the B final with his TC6. A minor hiccup for Olly after bad start in leg one, Olly did not get away cleanly and found himself sixth at the end of lap one. Olly recovered to get second in leg one and followed that up with a win in leg two giving him the overall win with Steve Lander fifth. So a good result for the team who were using the event to familiarise themselves with the TC6.
