Rock RC Axial Crawler Nationals

Dez Chand, crawling fan and editor of Radio Race Car reports back from the 2009 Rock RC Axial Crawler Nationals.

2009 at Bracken Rocks saw 40 entries for this years Crawling Nationals, organised by Ryan Weston and supported by the members of the Rock RC forum. RRCI magazine were there to cover the event and film extra footage for the forth coming Crawling DVD, to be released soon, and get pictures for both RRCi magazine report and the forthcoming RRCi RC Rock Crawler Special Issue by regular RRCi contributor Peter Gray - watch this space! Rain on Sunday morning couldn't dampen the enthusiasm and two courses were tackled throughout the day with the top ten going into a shootout on a third special section. The challenging course at Bracken Rocks. While the majority of entrants were running Axial rigs the winner was using a Torsion rig that floated over the rocks. Congrats to Al Helps for his excellent performance, winning an SCX10 Scale Kit, Neil Clee for his runner up spot and top qualifier position won a Proline package of Titus beadlock rims and Chisel tyres plus VW Bug Body. Mik Sanger finished third whilst also running the BBQ to keep everyone fed through the weekend. He won a Novak Rooster Crawler ESC. Top propshaft Rig winner of an RRCi subscription was Mike Davies with an Axial SWX with Novak Goat power in 4th place overall having qualified third after two rounds to show that propshaft rigs can still cut the pace against Motor on Axle (MoA) and even torsion chassis. Podium (from left to right) Neil Clee, Al Helps, Mik Sanger and prop winner Mike Davies. Top Non-Dig equipped rig was Dean Sibley with an Axial ARTR in 16th place, who won a '3 Racing' dig and Prolux 5009 servo.
