BRCA 1/10th Off Road - Rnd 3

The Talywain club in South Wales played host to the 3rd round of the BRCA 1/10th Off Road season.

The club had done a good job in constructing a challenging track from what was essentially just a grass field. There were several jumps that all required good control to hit the down slopes where time could be made up. The 2wd event was a battle between the returning Neil Cragg and Darren Bloomfield, both absent from the previous round. It was Darren who took the pole position with Neil 2nd and Ellis Stafford 3rd. Darren took the first leg of the final and Ellis the 2nd to set up a show down between These 2 drivers and Neil who had been 2nd in leg 1. A set up change to Neil's car made a huge difference to his confidence to push and were it not for an unfortunate coming together with Ellis at the first corner Neil felt he could have taken the win comfortably. As it was Neil had to fight back from dead last and very nearly caught Darren on the last lap, but it was Darren who took the win with Ellis 2nd and Neil 3rd. Talywain Club, South Wales The 4wd event looked like a potential washout if the weather forecasts were to be believed, but as it it turned out we were blessed and the rain that threatened never materialised. The racing was fast and furious with several drivers contending for the pole position. Ellis Stafford was the man who took that pole position with Neil Cragg's Yokomo in 2nd and Chris Doughty's AE B44 by Atomic Carbon 3rd. Neil at work on his Yokomo (rare) The three legs were a treat with these drivers plus Darren Bloomfield all taking turns at leading the pack. Darren and Ellis took a leg a piece from the the first 2, and in the 3rd leg it was a great battle that saw Neil Cragg take the lead with 2 laps to go, but unfortunatley he made a mistake as he started his final lap and thsi allowed Darren too once again take the win from Ellis and Neil.
