Southport Indoor Turf Wars Series

CML / Associated driver Chris Whitworth reports from round 2 of Southport's Indoor Turf Wars Series

The meeting started off with a great looking track and a solid start to qualifying, which is round by round, with 2 rounds to count to final placing.

In the first three rounds I managed a 9th 8th and 5th overall leaving me with the dreaded last round to ensure being placed in the A final. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get a clear run and ended up relying on the 8 and 5 scores, with others around me improving I ended up with a 1st in the B.

After failing to turn qualifying into an A final placing where the car deserved to be, it was the fastest 10.5 Spec on the track (managing to get the single fastest lap of the day, just not able to replicate for 5mins trouble free), managing to clear a double jump in the left had corner which no one else was able too I lost my head and ended up finishing B 7th in the end.

An unfortunate end to what started off very promising, but I’m left feeling very confident for the rest of the series with a setup which proved to be very consistent and drivable, only changing front tires from cut stagger grip to stagger though the day.

The next round is the 7th of January 2018 which is Round 3 of 6, it is the best four to count, so with a great base setup on the car I should be able to focus on circling the track like I know I can!
