Jon Howells reports back from the

Over the weekend of June 16/17th team AE descended on the Weston Park Model Air Show for the yearly "Weston Worlds"

The “Weston Worlds” event is an ‘old school’ grass track with wooden jumps track that was built in the days before the event making it a level playing field. Prizes were supplied by CML Distribution so everything was to play for.

After round 1 of practice the RC8B3.1 was proving to be the dominate buggy with 10 RC8B3.1’s in the top 14. We had Jon Howells from Mark Westwood, Nikky Davies, Carl O'Connor, Ryan Lawrence and James Harrold locking out the top 6 places

Saturday evening a dash for cash took place, it was £5 entry with the winner taking all. The stakes were high with the majority of the top drivers all taking part, after 12 minutes of hard racing James eventually took the money with Jon in hot pursuit and Carl finishing close behind in 4th from Lloyd Pitt.

With 2 rounds of qualifying still to run Sunday morning the team decided to let their hair down on Saturday night, this resulted in a few very rough looking drivers the next morning, but the weekend is meant to be a fun event after all. Even after the evenings antics the AE drivers filled 8 of the top 11 A final grid positions with James Harrold claiming TQ from Jon and Nikky in third.

In the Electric final 2 of the youngest racers, Ryan Davies and James Howells (who’s only 6 years old) did their parents proud by claiming 2nd and 3rd junior places. Well done lads great driving with your AE ebuggies maybe we will see more in the future.

In the cut throat B final Matt Cunnington came agonisingly close to bumping into the A final after some very robust driving by a few of the drivers in that final, bad luck Matt.

On to the main event, the 25 minute A final and the RC8B3.1 filled 6 of the top 7 places. Jon Howells took the win after an early race battle with James Harrold before James unfortunately had to retire. Nikky Davies took the runner up spot with Ryan Lawrence in 4th, Carl O'Connor in 5th, Lloyd Pitt finished 6th after a race long battle with Carl and Matt Francis finishing 7th Unfortunately Mark Westwood had to retire from the race with an issue while running in the top 5.

It was a great weekend, great AE team work and great results for everyone.
Well there is no rest as its Nitroxcross weekend next week, good luck everyone!
