CML Team drivers report back from Rounds 7 and 8 of the NitroXcross series at JC Raceway

CML/Team Associated drivers were in attendance at the cracking new JC Raceway track. This was the tracks debut meeting and with input from some of the famed DXR crew responsible for the Neo track we were in for something special.

Matt Lewis
The guys at JC Raceway have done an awesome job, the track was A* with fast flowing sections and some gnarly features. Having had Wes Myles on the digger could only mean something special was going to come from it!

Team Associated had a good amount of drivers in attendance and as always we were bouncing set up ideas back and forth all weekend in preparation for the BRCA National there in a few weeks’ time.

Everyone was happy with how their RC8B3.1’s were handling the conditions and most of the Pro-line guys all ended up on the Holeshot in either an M3 or X4 compound. Mike and I ran the M3 Holeshot for the final, thanks to Graham for lending me a set!

Come the final on Sunday I was confident with my Team Associated RC8B3.1, with all the drivers in the main being National A finalists it was set to be a great race and also good practice!
I crossed the line in 7th place after running in 5th at one stage but a few dodgy laps on my part saw me drop down a little!
Congratulations to Graham, Mike and Simon on the podium positions!

All the team did great throughout the finals and we had a great representation with everyone trying and learning new things for future meetings.

Thanks to Mom, Dad, CML and everyone for the help and pitting as always!

I struggled at the start of the weekend with setup and choosing the correct tyre, but in the end with all the team working together we got there. With most of the AE/Pro-line drivers deciding that the Holeshot was the best choice of tyre for the track conditions.

Sunday was the best race I have had in a long time from start to finish, it was a bumper to bumper race against Graham Alsop and Simon Willetts. I managed to finish 2nd just 1 second behind Graham after doing 1 extra stop so the car and race package was on top form.

The whole team can't wait to get back to this track for the buggy national as there is going to be some close racing!

Thank you to CML and everybody who helped us over the weekend, hopefully we will see you all next weekend at the truggy and ebuggy national.

Saturday was strong field and I qualified 9th in the C, after some close racing I finished just short of the bump spot up in 4th. I was running mixture of Pro-Line Fugitive lite’s and Holeshot. I ended up using the X4 Holeshot as they felt better for me.

For Sunday as the track had changed I made a few setup changes, I softened the suspension and went for a higher rear diff oil, this made the car a lot easier to drive. I qualified in the C again but a few places higher in 3rd place. For the final I went for a Pro-line Holeshot in M3, unfortunately I was tagged a couple of times during the opening lap which put me back to last place, after some good consistent laps I managed to fight my way back to 4th just missing out on the bump up, but I was happy with that.

Thanks to CML for the support and Matt, Mike and Mark/Lewis for the setup support help!

Keith Robertson– Ebuggy
After some close qualifying and an even closer final in the E-buggy class between Keith and Dave Gibson it would ultimately be CML / Team Associated driver Keith Robertson that would take the win ahead of Dave Gibson with Mick Butler finishing in third.

Keith’s winning Team Associated RC8B3.1e was powered by a Reedy/Hobbywing/Centro combination and used only one set of Pro-line X4 Suppressor tyres all day for qualifying and the 15 minuet main!

Next up we are back at JC Raceway for the BRCA Truck National and Ebuggy National this coming weekend July 1st and it's not too late to book in so get along and have a race on this awesome track.
