NitroXCross Season Wrap-up
A final report from the last race of the season and more victories for Team Associated.
Nice weather and a super competitive turn out for the final round of the 2017 Summer NitroXCross Series which took place at the all astro Ledbury track. The ever youthful Jon Howells was gunning for a top 3 overall in Nitro and looking untouchable in the veteran Nitro Series, James Harold in a fantastic position in the Nitro Junior Series, Carl O’Connor looking untouchable in the eBuggy Series and Tim Lucas looking in great shape in the Veteran eBuggy Series.
Jon looked superb on both days, taking the fight to the best that team TLR could throw at him, finishing 2nd and 3rd in the A final on both days to finish a brilliant 3rd overall in the Nitro Championship and take the Veteran Nitro Championship as well for what must be the 20th year in a row (sorry Jon).
James looked fantastic both days, attacking the track with his usual style and producing some blistering times in qualifying. James would eventually finish 3rd overall in the A final Saturday and 5th on Sunday to duly take the Junior Nitro Championship and finish 7th overall in the overall championship. Well done James
Carl had already wrapped up the eBuggy Championship with a TQ and victory at the previous round held at ESBRC and decided to concentrate on nitro this weekend. He managed another A final appearance on Sunday to finish a creditable 11th overall in the Nitro Championship to add to his eBuggy championship winning season
Tim Lucas managed to wrap up the Veteran eBuggy championship with a couple of rounds to spare after an early season swap to AE and some brilliant top ten finishes during the year
Nicky Davies, Jon Griffiths, Lloyd Pitt and Mark ‘Westy’ Westwood put in some fantastic drives this year as well, to consolidate the places in the top 15 of the Nitro championship
Special mention to Lloyd for backing Jon up in the Veteran Nitro championship with a brilliant 2nd in the table

Special well done to Mike Lewis for winning the series for the second year in a row - great driving Mike.
It was fantastic to see all the Team Associated buggies doing so well during the year and to see the team growing and expanding with more and more talent as the year went on. A special mention also to Ste Berrington who showed great improvements during the year and achieved the B final at Swindon. Also, Nicky Davies and Carl O'Connor who really stepped up there driving this year to make regular A finals
Thanks to everyone involved in the NitroXCross series, both organisers, drivers and pit crews. We appreciate all your hard work in keeping this great series alive for the racing community.
