Herts British GP

Herts RC club held their first 1/8th British GP on the August Bank holiday weekend running a 3 day format over the 27th to 29th.

The event attracted almost 100 competitors with the emphasis being on fun track time and competition.

Saturday saw optional practice and with good weather but a heavily oiled track it would be Simon Reeves with his RC8B3 and RC8B3E that would top the time sheets in both classes powered by Rex/Reedy and shod with Pro-Line rubber. With all competitors now fully dialed in to the track, Jamie Clancy went on to pick up where Simon had left off and TQ 4 out of the 5 rounds to secure pole position. Simon Reeves secured 2nd on the grid in Ebuggy with Darren Hayden-Ball claiming TQ in Truggy.

Sunday, and with fine weather it was time for the finals. Darren secured the Truggy class with an excellent performance, Simon came home 3rd in Ebuggy, just leaving the nitro class to shoot it out. Jamie and Simon where head to head in the first semi, which Jamie emerged victorious with Simon coming home second. In the second semi, both drivers registered a faster time than that in the first, which meant an AE lock out on the front row of the grid for the final race.

Associated/CML had a total of 4 cars in the final thanks to Darren Hayden-Ball and Jamie Cutter performing well to secure their spots. After the 30 minute semi finals the team gave their cars a quick check prior to the 45 minute main final. Jamie Clancy was able to lead with a flag to flag victory to secure the first British GP for AE with his Rex powered RC8B3. Jack Embling would secure second and Simon would secure 3rd making it two RC8B3's on the podium.

A big shout out to Harry and Bob for looking after Simon, and Charles and Gary for looking after Jamie. Both pit-crews were lightning fast! Resepect is also due to Jamie Cutter and Darren Darren Hayden-ball who both ran great finals to come home 11th and 14th with their full CML package.
