8th On-Road Championship Report

Last weekend saw the final round of the BRCA National Championship take place at the Mendip circuit in Weston Super Mare.

Saturday practice remained warm and dry all day, with the grip coming up steadily throughout the day.

Sunday race day remained warm dry, and after three rounds of qualifying, Savox and Team Shepherd driver Andy Hastings was sitting in 4th place. In the final round of qualifying, Andy was on to improve his time & position, however a stripped 2nd gear from a stone prevented any improvement.

The start of the A final Andy saw drop back to 5th behind David Spashett. After 5 minutes of nose to tail racing, an engine for David cut allowed Andy past and wind in on 4th position, eventually getting past and start catching the leaders. Around the 17 minute mark Andy moved into the lead - a quick tyre change on the front left at the 20 minute pit stop saw Andy maintain his lead, and settle into a steady pace to the finish.

The win secured 2nd place overall for Andy in the National Championship.

Andy was using a Protoform P909 bodyshell, and Savox 1258 servo’s throughout the weekend for his national winning performance.
