The first of the giant 1700 series of aircraft to arrive is the fabulous P51 “Ferocious Frankie” Mustang.  It features unbelievable scale finishing and best of all requires minimal effort as its simple assembly will have you ready to take to the skies in just several hours.

The airframe features a removable 2 piece wing that is simplistic in attachment and connection, the new FMS “multi-pin plugs” mean that the complex wiring is now just a single connection per wing and not the usual plate full of spaghetti normally seen in lesser airframes.

The cockpit is adorned with the full complement of dials and levers and the hand painted pilot finishes the effect.  Upfront, the scale shape spinner and reinforced nylon four blade propellor really does give a purposeful look.  As you would expect, the huge brushless out-runner motor is mated with a top quality ESC enabling stunning flight performance.

Here’s a summary:

The Grumman F6F Hellcat was a carrier based WW2 aircraft introduced in early 1943.  It proved to be very succesful against the Japanese A6M Zero, its 2000hp Pratt & Whitney radial gave the heavily armed and protected Hellcat the upper hand in the pacific.

FMS have chosen the Tri Colour scheme which we believe best suits rc models due to the increased contrast.  New levels of qualtiy, finish and constuction will please budding pilots of all abilities.

This aircraft is a super smooth and stable platform and seems to fly and present much larger than its compact 1400mm span.  It rewards the pilot with responsive control surfaces and has great energy retention. Hucking the Hellcat is a real pleasure and its effortless performance allows it to perform big loops, rolls, half cubans and split ess manoeuvres.

The unmistakable scale outline of the Hellcat features an easily removable auxillary tank and is fully complemented with both main gear and tail retracts installed.

The A6M Zero was a long-range fighter aircraft operated by the Imperial Japanese Air Service. In early combat operations, the Zero gained a legendary reputation as a ‘dogfighter’ remaining king of the air until around 1943. The aircraft was designed with long range and performance in mind, durability and pilot protection were not considered priorities and this led to many very good pilots to loose their lives. Ultimately this resulted in an Allied advantage later in the war.

FMS 1400 Series – Mitubishi A6M Zero

Just finished testing the latest 1400 Series aircraft to hit the shores.  I have been blown away with this aircraft, it’s going to be a big hit that’s for sure. It’s my new favourite aircraft and I can’t wait to fly it again for the main video.

Here’s the blurb:

FMS have continuously developed and improved its 1400 Series Aircraft.  The new Zero brings a cleverly constructed and extremely agile aircraft to the masses.

A new wing design incorporates a GRP socket and carbon wing tube, aileron stiffening inserts and 6 retaining screws.  The resulting wing is light and extremely rigid making it very responsive, just like the real thing!

The Zero is ‘feature loaded’ from tip to tail with wonderful scale detailing, it even has fabric and rib effect on the ailerons and elevators.  The worm drive retracts are complemented with ‘super slow servo’ operated inner gear doors and the fixed tail wheel driven off the rudder servo.

The super slow flap actuation is very effective and a real pleasure to use allowing for very realistic landings.

Wonderful low wing loading, large and stiff ailerons and a very responsive powerful power train make for an incredible flying machine.  Inverted flight, point rolls, barrel rolls, Immelmans, slow rolls, half Cubans and split-ess  are an absolute pleasure to perform and watch.

Two FMS P51 1400mm warbirds were won over the “Weston Park Weekend”   This wonderful aircraft has proved to be a real best seller in our ever increasing warbird range.

Designed to replace the aging T-6 Texan, the T-28 Trojan was a piston engine military trainer aircraft used by both the US Air Force and the US Navy. The Navy continued to use this as the primary trainer right up to the early 1980’s.

Famous Models have chosen several striking colour schemes, two from the Navy and one from the Air Force; the only down side, is choosing which one to have!

The T-28 features many scale details that will look great on the deck as well as screaming down the flying strip of your club.

The newest and best ‘Electronic Worm drive’ main landing gear and nose wheel are fully complemented by functioning scale doors. Batteries are easily and quickly changed due to the large removable and fully detailed canopy.

As always, ample power is provided by a lightweight and efficient brushless motor, it’s turning a 3 Blade propeller and scale spinner. Loops, stall turns, 4 Point rolls are made easy with this lightweight EPO foam airframe.

Over the winter we ran a long running ‘Favorite RC Show’ poll on Flighthub.  There was really no surprise that the winner was Weston Park and it won with a massive margin.

CML attended this show for the first time last year and we were very impressed with the venue and the attendance not to mention the wonderful weather.  This year the weather forecast did not looking too promising, so we were very pleased was that we had booked a professionally erected heavy-duty marque.

With a much larger product range from both Top Gun Park Flite and FMS we really struggled to decide what we would have to leave behind!

It was great to meet many of our customers and to get a chance to discuss our products in detail as well as show off some of the latest products that we will be available shortly.

FMS Stuka 87G

The easily recognizable inverted gull wing dive-bomber made its debut in the Luftwaffe’s Condor Legion during the Spanish War.

Its potency as an accurate dive bomber made it valuable in the early stages of  WW2 but later it was to prove vulnerable to the latest generation of fighter aircraft and it required heavy fighter support. The Stuka featured many innovative design features including automatic pull-up dive brakes and the infamous Jericho Trumpet siren.

FMS have accurately modeled the G variant, which was deployed as a tank buster on the ‘Eastern Front’. The 37mm cannons were located in under the wing gun pods and they proved to be very successful even though they were limited to 6 rounds per cannon.

This highly detailed replica is also a pleasure to fly and it’s a cinch to land too.  The powerful brushless motor drives a 3 blade propeller making for a very powerful and efficient aircraft.  Just remember to keep an eye out for any Spitfires!
