Weston Park Show

The weekend of the 19th and 20th of June was the much awaited yearly pilgrimage to Weston Park. It’s hidden away in some beautiful countryside just 30 minutes from Birmingham and a few miles from Telford.

The CML flight hub display team was at full strength, sporting their new customised polo shirts and sports jackets, unfortunately I forgot to take a group shot, which is a real shame.

The weather on Friday afternoon was a little damp but the skies cleared later on to allow us to put the finishing touches to the stand. Then it was off to the flight line to put in a few flights with the Smart and the Savox Extra.

Saturday morning was dry and breezy, we were inundated with interest as soon as we opened the doors; especially with the recently released Top Gun Composite L39, Goshawk and the brand new Viper Jet (available end of July)

There was also much attention and praise of the new FMS war bird range, the show stealer in my opinion is the P47 “Jug” it has a real presence both on the terra firma and when its wound up and streaking down the strip…….its florid scheme is stunning especially with the Staffordshire sunshine beating down on it.

At 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday we took a very full competition entry box down to commentator and comedian “Dave Bishop” who very kindly drew the winning ticket for the Famous P51 Mustang.

Saturdays winner was Brian Savage, from Bromyard and on Sunday our winner was Gary Smith from Dublin. Needless to say both of our winners were exhilarated with this wonderful aircraft (See photos below)

The team put on some excellent flying, the warbird slot was my most memorable, we all wished that we could have flown more but there are only so many slots available and many eager pilots.

In summary, it was a great opportunity to get our products out on display and be able to talk to the end user is always priceless. We are all looking forward to meeting many more of you, so please feel free to come over to us and have a chat when you next see us.

Our next event is 26th and 27th June, Battle of Britain RCME event held at Greenacres club.

Nice to see the team at Weston Park – but:-

Please don’t call your Top Gun Hawk a Goshawk!

The Goshawk is a heavily modified variant for the US Navy with active slatted leading edge, different undercarriage position, arrester hook, side mounted airbrakes, uprated structure, uprated engine and US avionics fit – not to mention a completely different paint scheme!

Sorry to be boring – the real one paid my mortgage for over 15 years.

    Regards,

Looks like it was a good day. Did anyone get any video of the battle demo?
